I came into the mare barn with my newly issued crutches. Since i left my barn, i had a fall off another horse that i was showing, and broke my leg in several places.i got them all feed and water, and as i limped down the aisle i saw a head poke out of a stall. i knew it belonged to Sundance. I leaned on the good leg and stroked her soft muzzle. i gave my appologies to my stallions and gelding along witht the other mareds then headed home for a rest.

i walked in and went straight to Sherrif. he wasn't in his stall, so i looked in the pasture. Stable hand turned him out probbably, I thought. his halter in hand, i collected him and put him in cross-ties. i groomed him and picked his hooves. they had lots of rocks packed in them. i taked him up and mounted him outside and took Sherrif to the roping ring. i whistled and one of my stable hands released a calf.i looked through my mounts ears and started to swing my lasso above me.the calf dodged to the right and i didn't even have to rein Sherrif for we swung to the right momentarily. i swung my lasso but it missed as the calf bolted forward. i kicked Sherrif and he jumped to a start. having collected my lasso it was waving above our heads as i swung it and my target was hit. Sherrif slid to a stop knowing i caught it then i jumped out of the saddle and tied up the four legs. having succeded, quickly i let the helpless calf go back to the stable hand. i patted Sherrif's sweaty neck and took the reins, leading him around to cool him off. back in the barn, i turned on the fan in Sherr'fs stall then grained and watered the rest of my stallions. then i went to the mare barn and took out Callie. i lunged her for an hour or so then cooled her off and grained my maresa, and checked on River, my pregnant one. she was healthy, and i gave her a little bit of mare and foal formula. then i headed in.

I came into the barn and grained all. with River i put some mare and foal stuff for it was due fairly soon. i took out Beam and lunged him some; he was getting so big now 5 years old! he was gaining quite a bit of weight, so we lunged for about half an hour, going over poles.i turned him out then turned the rest out, keeping Cloud in. i had 4 horses per pasture, and went to turn the boarding horses out too. then i came back to Cloud and groomed and saddled him. i led him to the indoor ring, bridle in hand, then changed the halter out with the bridle. then i mounted and made sure to warm him up extra good, for it was cold and he was getting up in years. but my mind strayed to Catty, who's legs were pretty bad, her being 18 and all. so after i took Cloud over a few high jumps, i turned him out and collected Catty. I would NEVER sell her, this had been her only home she had been treated well in so she would retire here. i groomed her good, then got an old bottle of joint restoratoin i had gotten for Cloud and Nevada. But now she needed it bad. When i would lead Catty you could hear her joints popping. so i poured some into the curry and rubbed in into her coat then poured a bit into her feed. then i worked on Ruby a bit then turned in.

I came into the barn and went straight away to River. She had done such a great job with Writer! He had gone to a great home with Lisa. I mucked out all stalls in all barns and gave everyone feed. I tacked up River for an exercise and brought her to the indoor ring to practise dressage. I warmed her up then practised a test I had written for us. I cooled her out and grained my mares. I turned the boys out and gave Bookster a good grooming. I took the shedding blade out for him; his coat was getting thick and shaggy. Then I rode Pete and Fable Gal then turned them out too.

I came into the barn and saw Nevada's sleepy head peaking out from her stall. When she saw me she snorted and almost smiled; I knew she wanted to go out on the track. "No girl," I said, "You are getting to old." Speaking of my older horses, I grabbed the joint ointment from the shelf in the tack room and went to Callie. I knew I had bought her pretty late, but I had had her for so many years after. I went into her stall and rubbed some of the stuff on her legs. Then I mucked out everyones stalls and put Cloud, Cisco, Phoenix, River, Churchill, and Missy on the hotwalker, bringing them in after 30 minutes.
