I groomed & tacked Boss of the plains, looking to see if anyone else was in the vecinity. I couldn't see anyone, but I tohught maybe I heard someone close by. then again, maybe i didn't. I mounted and took him out to the arena to get him warmed up, starting with a few slow exercises. I hadn't exercised him in a while, so he would need to go slow today.

we finished with the exercises and started a slow trot around the arena. boy was he rough on his trot! I worked him at it for a long time, doing a little cantering a when he got a smooth trot going, and walking him when it got rough. We did this for a while until i decided he'd become patient enough.

he didn't really want to behave, & really needed some discipline, but I was ready to do a little real riding too, so I let ourselves out of the arena and we took off down some of the main trails. Maybe I'd meet a friend along the way.

Boss & I had a lot of fun on the trails, but when we got to the creek, he really bucked it. Boy was he rough on his training. It used to be very little of a problem. I'd have to get him out a little more until he got all the vacation kinks out of him.

we rode back to the stables, 7 I cooled him off a little with some more work on his trot, and finally a couple turns around the arena. He was doing slightly better just from being out a couple hours, but he still had a long way to go. his canter could use a little work also.

I took Boss' tack off and set it in the tack room. I needed to clean it later. I picked up the shampoos, grooming tools, and cloths & led him to the shower hose. He always thinks it is a game (he's a horse, so of course)and like to make sure I get wet, but this time I think he was a little tired after an hour & 1/2 ride for thefirst time in a month. (other than quick exercise rides)It was his first real work out.

We finished up with his shower and I dried him off a little, then tied him to the cross bars. I got the wheelbarrow, pitchfork, shovel, and a bag of shavings and started on a complete overhaul of his shavings & bedding.after a couple 5 trips to the manure/old hay pile it was pretty much clean (except the small stuff) so I got the broom and swept it. then I laid down the clean shaving chips & hay, and put away the tools.

bringing him back I groomed him and gave him hay & his feed, then headed for a shower myself, and maybe some food at the cafe.
