This was my first time riding Pia, & I was really exited. I put on his bridle & saddle, etc, and got out the lunge line. I led him to the arena and just for starters had him run around it some with the saddle & bridle.

I then offered him a carrot (which he loves,, duh)and mounted him. he was ok, despite not being ridden for ages, and slowly settled into an easy trot. his trot was definitely smother than Boss's, but still needed some refining to it. WE set off down the same trail Boss & I had been on earlier, and cantered down the paths. I got kind of tense as we reached the creek, but he went straight through it, not the least bothered by it. As we came back toward the barn, a cat ran straight in front of him. Pia reared, and I fell, hitting my head on something hard & lost all consciousness.

i awoke in a blurr of diziness, my mind swimming, and I couldn't see very well. I stood up, leaning against the nearest corral fence. Looking around for Pia, I couldn't find him.

I headed toward the barn, looking for Pia & calling his name (py-ah). he wasn't to be found, so I went to the refrigerator and grabbed an ice pack for my head real quick. I sat down for 15 minutes with the ice pack trying to recuperate from my fall. I then hurried to the tack room and got a lead rope, saddled Boss, & rode all over the barn grounds. I was just heading out to the road when one of the hands said they say him going toward the trails. I quickly reigned Boss in (which was a mistake with my head injury) & cantered him to the trails. I decided to take the ones we had taken earlier, and headed down them. I kept calling Pia, and listening for an answer, but he didn't answer. Finally, about 3/4 of the way through the trail, I heard a whinny, and lo and behold, there he was, in the creek, calmly getting a drink of water. I eased down off of Boss, and removed Pia's reigns, draping them over the horn on his saddle. i put on his hackamore & the leadrope, securing him to Boss's saddle. At the barns, I made sure not to go by the route to his stall we had previously taken, just because I couldn't take it with my head swimming right now.I put Boss & Pia up, & went to my room & turned in for the evening.
