I've never REALLY ridden Side Saddle before, so this was exciting! The other times, I fell off almost right away! It's so awkward! I mounted Flashy (probably the wrong way) and waited for Mango.

Smiling as Lilly got on i said "you did fine now just hook your right leg over the little horn and let it hang. Then adjust your sit to where your a little more to the right then the left.

I do what Mango says and it makes such a difference! I'm still a little off balance, but that's just me. I don't have a very good independent seat. "Thanks! That helped a ton!" I say to Mango.

Smiling i walked over to the fence and grabbed a small crop. Handing it to her i told her to put it in her left hand. Since your feet are on the same side she won't know how to act to a kick on one side and not the other so i light tap of the crop is what will replace your leg. Then ask Lilly to tell Flashy to walk and get her on the rail we started our lession.

"Okay!" I say to Mango and do what she says. I tap my leg on her side and the crop on her other side, and she starts walking! Yeah! I think to myself, One step down! I bring her to the rail and continue walking around.

I walk around a few more times, still settling in. Then I tap her sides again and click my tongue and she moves into her (luckily) exteremely smooth trot. "It's not as hard now that I'm doing it right!" I say to Mango.

I grimace as she sets out the poles, but I'm willing to try them. We trot over, and I automatically try to post. It doesn't work to well, and I fall off, laughing. I get back on, and do as Mango told me at the beginning of the lesson. I bring her over to the poles again, and this time I don't post, and it works great!

i trot a little longer to settle down a little more than tap her sides and cluck again. she is reluctant to canter, but she does. It's really weird, like REALLY weird. I almost fall off, but not quite. I'm not the best canterer on a normal saddle anyway!

Smiling i called out to her"It will take time cantering in a side saddle is very hard" I walk to the side of the get a lunge line. "Ok i'm goan clip you on to this so you won't have to worry about stearing her as much, i want you to concentrat on sitting to her canter k?"
