After I had finished with most of the bran chores I decided to start work on my mustangs. I headed out to Radar's paddock with an apple in hand. He lifted his head as I approached him but he didn't turn away. He just kept watching me with his ears picked toward me. "There's a beautiful boy" I murmmer walking up to him slowly and keeping my eyes on the ground so as not to threten or challange him. As I drew closer he still stayed where he was, his ears still up. I get with-in 5 feet of him and he still stands there, looking at me. 4 feet...3 feet...2 feet...1 foot... He's still sareing at me. And I am startled to see that there is not one bit of fear in his eyes, only intrest and a bit of apprehention. I walk up to his, still talking softly, the aple visable in my palm. I carefully out a hand up to stroke his neck and, to my GREAT astonishment he just nuzzled my chest effectionatly as took the apple I had now offered him. I smiled at him and left the paddock for the night.

The next day I decided to work on April since she was promising as being the most difficult. I open the gate to her paddock carefully, my eyes to the ground. As soon as she spots me she retreats to the far corner of the paddock. I walk towards her and when I get within 30 feet she spins around and gallops off. I try several more times and each time when I am 30 feet from her she wheels around and gallops off or rears and gallops off, though gallops off none the less. Sighing I lay the apple on the ground a good 50 feet away from her and left.

I've left Ripple alone for a while because she seems to be watching me thoughout my day as I work with the other horses, learning that I might just be ok. April is still impossible to get close to but today I think I will try to saddle Radar. I walk out to the paddock with a small jumping saddle, pad, and girth over my right arm and close the gate behind me. "Hey there boy." I say softly. "You want to try the saddle today?" He just stares at me and to my amazement walks over to me and nuzzles my sholder. I stand there petting him a while and then finally let him sniff the saddle pad. He does not seem particularly alarmed so I go for it. I raise the pad up to his back and...
