the start of big breeding

i was finnally getting involved in breeding so i had paid some workers* to build some more stalls for the oncoming foals.i walked into the barn seeng a huge mess that the workers had made."don't they know that horses are living things too?"i asked myself.i got out a broom and swept the sle clean.then i went outside into the morning dew to the brood pasture. i caught our pregnant ones Fable Gal and Beauty and led them to some crossties in the stables.it was unusually cold, even for me, and i went to get a sweatshirt. theni put some blankets o the mares. i got a stethascope out and inserted it into my ears.i listened to Beaty's stomach first where i could here a little tiny itty bitty neigh. i gasped and smiled. then i went to Fable Gal. i could here some kicking then a loud whinny. "wow"i thought. but when i turned around i saw Fable Gal looking outside into a big thunderstorm. it was then i knew that it was not the foal but her worning me about the storm.i took out the stethascope out of my ears and put it on the vet shelf in the tack-room.i let the mares into their stalls with somefeed and water then i went outside into the storm.i whistled for the other mares and i unlatched the gate hastily.they ca running up to me and stayed there waiting for the next intructon. i poited to the barn door wich i had left open and they all ran inside like a big stampede.but one girl stayed;Blue."go girl!"i said. i gave her a push twoards the barn door but she held her ground. it was like she was protecting me. then i remembered when i wlked away with her when i had bought her and the previous owner had said"she had a fooal that died afetr birth, so she's..."i had started up the engine ofmytruck and the lastwords had droned off.but i could guess what they were. so i just mounted her bareback and pointed her in the direction of the stallion psture. she started cantering twoards it. when we reached there i called to the boys and they all ran with Blue and i to the barns.i decided tomput them all together in one barn so i knew where they all were.i led them inside the mare barn the shut the door with great troubles with the help of Keeper, my strong clydsdale.i put the mares in their origanal stalls and the stallys in extra stalls.i fed everyone and gave them water.then i got into the stall with Callie who had laid down and i laid on top of her. she nickered the we both dozed of into sleep.

i awoke in the barn and startled seeing wherei was, rolled into Callie's legs;she had stood up."'mornin' Callie!"i said.i got up myself and brushed off the wood chups and hay.i went otside to see a beautiful sunrise then went back in.i mucked out all the stalls and dumped the waste into the old forest that nobody goes on.i went back to thebarn and 2 by 2 led the stallions back to their own stalls.frst Pete andSherrif then Cloud and Jack, Beam and Rus, then keeper and Pirate.i went to the mares and saw the vets truck in the driveway. i paused, then went in the stables.i saw the vet in Fable Gal's stall looking her over."hi!"i said."oh!;hi"said the vet. "how does sh look?"i said."pretty good.you might want to give her the new mare&foal supplement from the new store in town."he told me."yeah, i bought some yesterday."i told him.we walked out of her stall and across the aisle to Beauty's."how 'bout her?i asked."good!good, fine, yes. youve been doing good."thank you!"i replied."now child,"he started,"make sure yto fill this form out please.and mail it to me."he gave me his address then left.i looked the form overafter waving god-bye to the vet. it said:

i finished it then put them in an envalope and adressedthem. i put it in the mail box then gave Fable Gal her supplements with her other food and fed the other mares.i fed the stallions and turned them out then went to the house.

i came rushing to the stallion pastureand caught Jack and Pete.i led them to their stalls and gave them somefeed and water.i went to Pete's stall and put him in cross-ties.i groomed him well then plugged in the clippers.i clipped no sort of pattern butdid where the hair was long.i clipped below his fetlocks. i think it tickled because he startedtwitching and he gave a whinny.then i wwent in his muscle creases and underhis jaw,bridlepath, and around the point of his neck and tail.he looked gorgous!but ubfortunately, the floor didn't.well, ill leave it for after the ride.i went to the tack room and got his trail saddleout. i put a blanket on and did up the girth then carefully transfered his halter to a bridle.i led him out of the cross-ties and into thesun. i jumped up on the old barrel and mountedhim.i brought him to the gelding pasture wich i thiught was the prettiest of all.itsa shame no horses could use it.i started him p at a canter as we jumped a stream.i turned him sharply sp we could jump a ditch with a log in it.i smiled as i saw it below us.i lsowed him to a trot as weheaded back to the stables. i untacked him and hosed him of then put him on the hotwalker with Keeper and Sherrif.then i went to the next aisle to Jack's stall.i dusted his name-plate on his stall door then went in."hey Jacky!"i said and hewhinniedback as if to say "hi kiki!o i get to practise driving today?"it was weird, for he turned his head as "he said the last part "i nodded at him smiling. i took him into cross-ties and groomed him, then gave him a clip where the leather straps were going to be roughly.it looked pretty cute!i got the driving harness and hitched it up to him.i climbed into the seat and gave him a tap with the whip. he started up andhe urged to go faster but i held him back fornow. e went out f the driveway and intothe gravel road.i let him get into a fast walk as we went downthe road. we passed a few strangers houses. one had two teenage girls way older than me. the shot a nasty look at Jack and pointed and laghed.i leaned forward in the seat and whispeed to Jack,"im going to pull in on the reins boy, then rear."i hoped he understood.silently i counted 1.....2.....3..... then i tugged andJack reared as weapproached the girls driveway where theywere sitting.i smiled slyly at them te let him go into a trot full speed.we went down a few more minutes then i turned him around. we did a extendedtrot the way home. we reached the barn andi untacked him.i was so proud of him for getting back at those mean girls.i gave him a handfull of molassessand hosed him down. then i put him in his stall.i took Sherrif out of the hotmwakker and put him in his stall.i goot the lavender oil from the feed room and poredsome on a rage then i rubbed it onto his scraggly coat.Sherrif tried to nip the bottle out of my hand, so i guessed it might've stung a bit.so istopped for the day and returned thebottleto it's shelf.then i got te lunge line and clipped it on to Sherriff'shalter. i ook him to the area outside and strated his walk.i had noticed that he wasstarting to tukup his head. it looked gourgeous for dressage!his man was flowing and his tail held high.then i put him in a trot. it was evebn better!he picked his hooves up so gracefully and set them down softly.i bought him to me and rubbed the snip on his face.he stoodstill as a breeze swept his forelock over hiseye."oh, i wish i hada camera"isaid to myself.i hugged him and he nickered. i took one last look at him nd put him in his stall withe sme feed andwater. i gave him a carrpt the went and grained Fable Gal and Beauty hen gave the rest alfalfa and everyone water.

i was so exited!my mares Fable Gal and Beauty were due in 11 and 12 days!so i went over to the mare barn.i guess i forgot that i had turned them out cause no-one was in the barn. so i went to the pasture and brought in Fable Gal and Beauty.i tok them to the horse scale and weighed them."looking good!"i said.i led them off then put them in their stalls. i mucked them out and put imn fresh bedding. then i fed them and gave Fable Gal the supplement Mare & Foal and gave them both water. then i brought in Nevada and started grooming her.i stroked her for a while then put her on a lunge-line.i brought her to the indoor arena and started her canter. she looked beautiful. i brought her to me and looked at her joints. i brought her back to the stables and got the joint flex stuff. i rubbed it on her joints. then i poured some iinto her sweet-feed.then i went to Sundance."hi girl!"i said greeting her. she whinnied and pawed the ground."ho,ho,"i said trying to calm her down.i groomed and fed her and gave her water. then i tacked her up with the rented vaulting saddle and put the bridle on. i brought her to the barrel and mounted. i was going to start out doing around-the-world at a walk, then move up to a trot.i took my fet out of the stirrups and started her at a walk."easy Sundance, go easy,"i said gaining confedence with every step my trusty steed took.i swung my leg over her neck and was sitting side-saddle. i smiled and swung my other leg over her rump. now i was riding backwards. i waited for us to take the turn then i slid my leg so i sat sidways.i took a last bit of breth then swung my leg over her powerful neck.i put my feet back in the stirrups as i moved her to a trot.once again i said,'take it kinda slow, girl.you need to go easy."i slipped my feet out of my stirrups again and gained confedence in her. i swung my leg slowly over her neck and continued until i was back sitting correctly in the saddle."good girl!"i said patting her neck.i did a steering exercise which i trotted her up to a fence the said walk and had to steer her with my legs before we hit the fence. i cooled her off then turned her out. i lunged Ruby then fed the stallions and gave the specials Jack and Sherrif their supplements.i also gave them water then headed home.

i ran to the stallion barn and jogged down the aisle to Cloud."hey boy!ready tpo do some extreme english pleasure?"i asked him.i gave him a pat then let my-self in and started grooming him.then i went to the tackroom and got Queens old all-purpose saddle.i did the girth and switched the halter then mounted up my pony. i set off at a trot twoards the ring.i cantered some figure eights then did some colected walk, wich he had always had problems with. i saw some improvment so i sped him up to a trot, then a canter. i cooled him off over trot polesthen i untacked him and hosed him off. i gave him some feed and water, and checking the medical white-board in the tack-room, saw he had no meds, turned him out. then i went to Rus down the aisle."hi there boy!"i said. i groomed him then tacked him up for trail.i mounted him outside and practised the opsticales for the show."go right, boy,take that turn,"i said guiding him.we went over the bridge, over the "stream",through the firecrackers,paper bags, and stone blockage."well, that wasn't to bad, was it Rus?"i told him satifactually.i coolede him off then untacked him and hosed him down. then i put him out in the pasture with Cloud. i fed all the mares and stallys snd gave them all water.

"ok MAgo!sounds gret!see ya in a couple'!bye!"i saet the phone down and ran to the barn. to much to do, i thought.but thats a good thing.i went to the mares and checked on Beauty and FAble GAl. they were both plump!9 more days till FAbles and 10 more till Beautys.i took FAble Gals halter and lunge line and put them on her. i was going to lunge her very lightly.i led her outside after grooming her and started with a nice walk.i saw a kick and she whinnied, so i only did a slow trot then turned her out with Beauty.i put feed and water in their stalls for when they got back and gave them both Mare and Foal this time. i jumped on Ruby even though she wasn't trained and trotted her down to MAngo's.(more when i "get back")

i got up and went to the mare barn.i walked down the aisle to where Blue girl was standing in her stall.i fed her and gave her water then fed her and while she ate i brought the carriage outside to the frontyard.i groomed Blue and led her to the carriage. i did up the last complicated starpthen climbed to the high seat. i clucked to her then we moved out of the drive and into the stareet.we did a working walk up the hill then started a slow trot as we approached Mikki's barn. i saw Auto and MAnly out in the pasture.i waved to Mikki and we started a canter. all of a sudden a motercycle whipped by wich i recognized as the weird filmer."uggh,"i groaned.we pulled up in a drive way and turned around and headed for Shining Star.we got there and i undid all the straps and turned Blue out in the pond pasture so she could cool off on her own.i mucked out all the stalls, fed everyone, gave them water, and other barn things. then i went to town.

i walked to the stallion barn happily with some Polish for my horses name-plates and if they had titles.sadly,nobody did.first stall, i thought.15 more to go. i sighed then started cleaning his that read,"For The Love Of Pete.a.k.a. Pete"i shined it and allll the others.then i returned to Petes stall smiling."soon your gonna be a proud father,boy!to a pure bred Morgan foal,"i said.i started grooming the big stallion then led him to the arena.i set up some jumps and mounted Pete bare back.pesonally i thought that bare-back jumping helps you gain trust in your horse and put a bond between the horse and rider.i trotted him over a stack of poles then cantered him over a winged double oxer and through an in-and-out.we umped the staream and over the rock wall, then did the tripple at the end."good job boy!"i said smiling.i patted his muscular neck then we walked back to the stables.i dismounted and hosed him off then turned him out to graze.i fed and mucked out the stally stalls and gave them water, then went to the brood barn.my mares were "filling up" as i called it, and i went to Fable Gal."congrats on finishing youu training on driving girl!"i said.i stroked her forehead then went into the box-stall.she was due any day now.5 to be exact.i groomed my mare and braided her mane and tail in case she was due early.i gave her a final pat then walked to Beauty. i did the same for her, and all of my peregnant mares.then i turned to Annie, and groomed her and tacked her up with her new vaulting saddle.i brought her to the round pen and mounted. i warmed her up at a canter and trot after securing the lunge-line to the post in the middle.then i started the exersice.i did around the world at a walk, then moved into a trot and did it, then.i gripped tightly to the front and lifted my legs onto her bck so i was laying on my stomach.i raised and lowered my legsthen sta back up. i lifted by legs into an air-bound straddle, then lifted by whole body up.i smiled, at this acopmlishment, then cooled her off and turned her out after untacking her.i turned out my pregnant mares too, then went to the office to update some of my papers.

i came to the stables kinda later at 7:30,but headed to the mares anyway feeling hot tears roll down my chilly cheecks.i walked to Fable Gals stall and went into it.i felt her stommach and hugged her around the neck. i had just received a call that Fable Gal might not be eligable for mothering from the UHS(United Hanovarian Society;not really, just to make it more fun) ."why us,girl?"i asked her.she seemed to see what was wrong as i saw a wet sreak down her cheek.i swiped my own cheeck with my hand then sadly put her in cross-ties.i groomed her and soon i had to restart cause my tears had fluffed up her coat.i siled weakly and did it over again.then i turned herout with Beuty.i siled as she trotted around to Beuty.then i went to River. i groomed her and fed her.i had pulled my self togethr and clipped on her lead.then i hand-walked her around for a while then turned her out with the tow other mares.i fed them all some feed and water then went to my stallions.i got Keeper and groomed him, the clipped the lung-line onto his halter.i broought him to the pasture and lunged him.first trot, than walk, than canter,then i jumped on him bare back and dug my heelsinto his flanksand we galloped off through the pasture.we jumped a log and staream then i brought him back to the stables at a walk. i jumped down and put him back in his stall.thren i went to Rus.i groomed him and tacked him up with his brand-new trail saddle."like it boy?"i said.he nodded his head then i mounted him.i rode him into the woods at a trot then cantered over some opsticales.over a log and stream, stone wall, and other things.after a few hours i turned him back and when we got to the stables i untacked him.i stored his tack away and hosed him down.then i went to the mare barn again and went to my foster horse Dawn.i fed her and groomed her then turned her out in a private pasture.

i woke up and went 5to the barn.i went to the tack-room to fix the bridle hooks.i took some screws and a screwdriver and started re-screwiung them in. then i heard the phone rining.i jogged to the office and picked up."Sining Star Ranch this is Kiki!""hello?this is the United Hanovarian Society."oh hello!what do you need?"i asked curiously."we have done further research on your mare and have found it was a different mare who is not eligable.your foal will not have to be foster mothered.'oh, thank you!"i cried."yes.good bye."i hung up and raced to Fable Gal in the pasture."girl your avble to have your foal!"i said.she reared and cantered over to me.i hugged her aroound the neck and slipped on her jhalter and led her back to the stables. i groomed her and clipped on her lead.i led her around the stables and through the trails then we returned. i regroomed her then put her in her stall with some food and water. then i went to Sundane. "hi girl!" i said.i groomed her then tacked her up with the vaulting saddle then led her to the ring with the post in the middle.i tied her to it then mounted.we did trot poles and oxers then started vaullting.i did around the worldand some other things then i cooled her off.i regroomed her then turned her out.

i came into the stallion barn and gave them all feed and water. then i went to Pirate."hi boy!your soon to be a father!"i said.i put him in cross-ties and groomed him.i slipped on his halter and clipped on the lead and hand led him around.then we went to the the outdoor arena where i set up some oxers.then i gave Pirate all the slack he could get and then i trotted him around the ring once and cantered around once. then we started the jumps. he lept over the first one like it was his own shadow and then cleared the next one with no diffuculty. we cleared the rest of them then i jumped up on him and clipped the other end of the lead to the other side of his halter then raised the jumps to 2 foot.i started him up at a canter then lined him up with the first double.we cleared the first one and took a stride then jumped the next one.his hoof trailed behind and caught the pole and unfortunately it fell over.we cleared the rest then i cooled him off.then i turned him out.then i went to Sherrif. i groomed him and rubbed some lavender oil onto his coat the poured some into his feed.then i tacked him up and mounted.i set up a cow then warmed dsherrif up. then i took him around the cow at a fast trot then raced to each end of the ring. i cooled him off then put him on the hotwalker with Pete, Keeper, Jack and Cloud and Rus.then i headed over to the mare barn. i went to Dawn, our foster horse and groomed her. then i took her lead and hand led her around. then i regroomed her and turned her out in a private pasyure. then i went to Blue."hi girl!"i said leaning on her stall door.i pet her face then fed her and gave her some water then groomed her. then i took out the lunge line and lunged her lightly.we did walk then trotting over poles then did 3 minutes of canter.then i turned her out. i did the same with all my pregnant mare but kept Fable Gal in. i groomed her then hand-led her around for she was due tommorow!i led her around Dawn's pasture then turned her out with the rest. then i went to River. i groomed her and hand led her around the gelding pasture. then i turned her out with the rest.

i raced into the mare barn and to Fable Gals stall.i peered in and saw a little head pop out from behind mama!"oh, your gorgeous!"i said going into the stall.i took a towel and wiped the little colt up.i patted Fable gal's neck and said,"your going to be a great little foal!"i didn't do much with him as to not get attatched because i would be selling this little guy pronto.i went and fed the other mares and stopped at River's stall.i groomed her then hand led her around for a while then turned her out.then i went to dawns stall. i groomed her and hand led her too, then turned her out with River.i went to nevada and groomed her then tacked her up for racing.i drove her to the turf track and warmed her up.i took her around the track at a canter then i did her regular trot then sped her up to her race trot. we went 2 and a 1/2 times around then breezed her for a time around then cooled her down. we went back to the stables and i untacked her then put her, callie, Blue, River and Sundance on the hotwalker. then i went to the stallions. i fed them and gave them water then turned half of them out then went home.

i came back to the stables leading Cisco mynew mustang mare and Phoenix my new Mustang stallion.i put each into their stall then went to Phoenix first. i groomed him then turnedhim out then went to Cisco and groomed her and turned her out.then i went to town to buy some feed for my horses.

i came in early and quickly went to Beauty's stall."oh my gosh!"i yelled. i went into the stall with a towel and wiped of the little face of Beautys foal!"its another boy!"i said.i swept my hand over Beutys back and said,"i know you will be a great mom!" then i clipped on her lead and took her outside hoping that my newly named foal Pirate's Envy would follow. and sure enough he did!we went to the stallions and i went down the aisle to Pirate."hi boy!this is your new son!"i said.i let the three sniff each other then i heard a loud whinny from Pirate."i think he likes you, Envy!"then i led them back to their own stalls and put Envy in the one next to Beauty.then i went to check on Fable Gal and It's Illegal. they seemed to be doing good!i went to River and groomed her. then i hand led her around then turned her out.then i turned the foals and moms out with her. then i went to Callie."how are ya doin girl?"i asked her. i went into ther stall and felt around her stomach.it was i fisty little foal!he was twisting and turning al over the place!i patted Callie then gave her a sugar cube as i groomed her.then i put her back in her stall with some feed and water. then i went to the stallys. i went to Cloud and groomed him. i tacked him up for hunter then rode him to the jumping ring. i warmed Cloud up then put him in line with the first brush jump.i felt his feet pound the ground as we took off then land on the other side. we took a wide left turn to a well jump with wells on either side gushing out water to the trough below us.i looked down and saw Clouds foot trim the side of the water. we landed then headed for the double stone rock wall.i sped him up a bit and we bounced over them like a rubber ball.i slowed him down to origanal speed as we finished the course. then i cooled him off and untacke dhim back at the stables then gave him a shower. then i turned him out with Petet and Sherrif.then i went to town.

i came cantering up the road on Pete coming back from Mangos'. i slowed him to a walk and we went to his pasyure.i halted the stallion and untacked him there then let him out. he galopped away kicking up dirt. then he slid to a halt and bucked and reared to his utmost height. i smiled then carried his takroom. i set the saddle on the rack and hung up the bridle then went to the vet shelf. i got the lavender oil and went to Sherrif and rubbed it onto him and put some in his feed. then i went back to the shelf and got the joint flex stuff and went and put it into Clouds water then rushed over to the mares and put some in Nevada's water. i came back to the stallion barn with Tessa running right beside me.i set it on the shelf then went to Blue. i groomed her then lunged her a bit then turned her out on the hot walker with Callie, Sundance, Dawn, and Fable Gal. then i went to Cisco."hi girl!"i said to my new mustang. i groomed her then put a halter and lead on and led her around. then i turned her out then turned the mares on the hotwalker out oo. then i went home.
